The foaf-protocols list is for developer collaboration around the use of FOAF in contexts that go beyond the simple publishing and exchange of RDF documents. For example, its combination with OpenID, OAuth, PGP, SSL, XMPP, digital certificates or other means by which the sourcing or visibility of RDF-expressed claims might be controlled or monitored more securely.
