I downloaded a couple of the PECL extensions and they are
cross-platform native libraries. It would seem as if you have to
provide the build material per platform, and usually a compiled DLL
for Windows.

If you have a cross-platform mature native library, this might be your
bet. This means you'll have to keep this native library up to date and
in synch with PHP.

Curious: what is the minimum performance requirements as defined by
the application specifications? So many triples per minute parsing?
What are you looking for?
