Hi again!
So, the discussion died out a bit, so it is time to sum up and make
explicit the direction I think we're going. So, I wrote up
some "proposed resolutions", things that I think a sufficient number of
people could agree upon from the discussion of the last few days.
0. The purpose of this work is specifically to create a working trust
system to combat email spam. Future versions may support more
applications.
1. First version should aim to use the FOAF data allready on the web,
and must not require that users make new information available.
2. Only a unidimensional trust metric is required. It will be primarily
based on network distance.
3. Identity mechanisms, such as OpenID, SPF and DomainKeys may be
needed, either as a modifier to the trust metric, or implemented as a
part of plugins to mail systems.
4. Users that provide additional data, such as a verifiable signature or
a clearer trust statement, should be rewarded by the trust metric,
however not necessarily in the first version.
5. The trust metric should be in the interval [0,1].
Would this be a reasonable progression from now on?
Cheers,
Kjetil
