Has it been used with RDF before? Any prominent examples?

Why not create the same protocol in RDF so you don't have to have a
centralised list of types that can be used? Also you don't need to
understand xri's in order to describe what should really be quite a
simple association between an HTML page and either metadata or
alternate representations of itself. It seems very heavyweight for use
as a discovery protocol overall.
