I think all foaf+ssl implementations already support 2 serialisations
at least. If you have a RDF toolkit it always comes with a few. So this is
really not a problem.
And above simiplicity of use it is much more important to have flexibility.
Publishers should be able to publish as easily as possible for them. RDFa
is now popular but often rdf/xml is better.
